Appropriate Maintenance/Irrigation
Water plants when they need water, and when
watering, water deeply. This will encourage deeply
rooted plants that will need minimal supplemental watering. Watering early in
the morning, before
the heat of the day, will help to conserve irrigation of water. The grouping
of plants according
to their water needs will also help to conserve water. The majority of plants
in a wildlife garden
are typically perennials. Once they are established after the first year of
being planted they tend not
to need water regularly like you would water annuals. So, in short, after your
garden has become
established, your watering days will be minimal(note that I did not say OVER
:) ), but perennials require
much less than annuals.
